We just came back from our two week trip from Calgary to Vancouver Island and back.
We were towing our Aliner scout trailer all the time. The trip was about 4000 km or about 2500 miles. Towing through the mountains all the time we got around 11 liter per 100 kms or about 21 miles per us gallon. These fuel calculations were done not using the cars computer.
We traveled along highway 3 in BC over to Nelson then to Manning provincial Park for some hiking. Then in to Vancouver for some rain. Over the Ferry to Victoria for some salmon fishing and crabbing. Up the island to Strathcona provincial Park for some more hiking. Then across the ferry to Lund for some Sea Kayaking. Across another ferry to hike to Skookumchuck Narrows. Where some people whitewater Kayak when the tide changes. Across the last ferry to Vancouver and up to Pemberon to camp close to some more waterfalls. Then over more mountain passes to Lillooet and then to Wells Gray provincial Park for some more hiking and some great whitewater rafting. We seen five waterfalls in this park. One of them is the 4th highest in Canada 141 meters tall. Niagara is only 50 meters. Then up to Jasper for one last night of camping before heading home. The weather was sunny and hot 25 to 35 Celsius all the time except in Vancouver. If you do not know the area this route is all mountains our average speed was probably around 40 mph or 70 kph. The XC ran great and we had no problems going over any of the 12 or so mountain passes.
Here is a photo of our trailer open at Strathcona Park and closed at Crawling Valley.

Great report skid o and what a pretty camping spot! [thumbup] Sounds like you had an awesome trip! :)

That stretch of road through Strathcona Park from Campbell River to Gold River makes for a nice drive. I definitely won't forget it as it eventually led to the start of our first kayaking trip into Nootka Sound.
