Strong September pushes Volvo sales ahead 21.9 per cent TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2003 – Brisk retail traffic, competitive financing and the popularity of all-wheel drive combined to push total sales of new Volvo vehicles to 996 units for September, a 21.9 per cent improvement over the strong performance of September, 2002, Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. announced today. The company posted sales of 817 units in the same month last year, a 14.6 per cent improvement over the results of September of 2001. Total sales for the first three quarters of calendar 2003 reached 8,433 units, an increase of 14.5 per cent over the 7,368 vehicles sold in the same period of 2002. “September has been good to us for the past two years,” said Paul Cummings, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Cars of Canada. “Excellent retail traffic and the appeal of our all-wheel drive vehicles, combined with competitive finance offers that meet the competition head-on, made September a very rewarding month for Volvo retailers.” More than a quarter of all S60 sedan sales are cars equipped with AWD (all-wheel drive), and AWD wagons (V70 AWD and XC70) outsell two-wheel drive wagons by a margin of two to one, Cummings said.
