Wilde Automotive Group sold two of its Waukesha dealerships to an Illinois company that specializes in luxury car franchises.
Waukesha-based Wilde sold its Volvo and Jaguar franchises Oct. 1 to Fields Auto Group, a Glenview, Ill.-based automotive group that owns and operates dealerships in Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida and British Columbia, Canada. Fields also purchased property at 1901 E. Moreland Blvd. that was once home to Wilde Dodge Chrysler.
The Volvo and Jaguar dealerships had been located about a quarter mile away from the new Fields Auto Group-owned location, which is known as Jaguar Land Rover Volvo of Waukesha.
Fields said his company plans to start construction within the next few months on a $1.5 million project that will expand and remodel the existing facility to accommodate the three franchises.
Wilde owned the Jaguar dealership for 25 years and the Volvo dealership for eight years, Bloom said. Wilde made a business decision to sell the franchises based on an offer from Fields, she said.
The Wisconsin market has been underdeveloped in sales for the Volvo and Jaguar franchises, Fields said, and his company felt the western suburbs of Milwaukee offered a high growth potential.
"Our business is luxury cars," Fields said. "Wilde tends to be in a higher volume business. We think (the Milwaukee area) is a very high growth area and has high potential for luxury and mid-luxury vehicles."
It is not surprising that Wilde would sell its low-volume Jaguar and Volvo franchises because Wilde is known as a high-volume dealer with its Honda and Toyota dealerships, said Don Hansen, president of the Automobile Dealers Association of Mega Milwaukee.
