The Volvo Ocean Race

October 5, 2001: Two weeks after their departure from Southampton, UK, the eight vessels competing in the newly retitled Volvo Ocean Race (formerly known as The Whitbread Race) are just about halfway finished the first leg of this round the world yachting race.

Spectators can watch the action unfold at VolvoOceanRace.org. Here, visitors can track competitor progress via dynamic data feeds and graphics.
