Default Best Snow Tires for XC70

I need to get a set of (studless) snow tires for my 2005 XC70 that are also pretty good for long wear. Since I don't get long mileages out of the XC70, I'm planning on using these snow tires all seasons. Thanks in advance for your input and recommendations.

As far as I know Nokian tires are only brand that makes something that performs well in summer & winter.
I have a set of WRG2 and they are great so far in all seasons.
I see U have WR listed but the WRG2 are much better design.

Oh, I forgot to mention about the Nokian WR... I'm looking for a different set this time as I wasn't all that impressed with the Nokian WR on snow and ice. I'm now looking only for the dedicated snow tires.

You can't use dedicated snow tires all season. Or rather you can, but you'll just end up replacing them every season because they'll be worn out before summer's done. With the Nokian WR you take a hit in winter performance because they're designed to be able to withstand dry pavement by using a harder rubber compound. The WRG2 is a different design, it might give you better winter performance and still allow you to drive all year round.

Thank you all for your helpful responses. The Nokian WRG2 is intriguing so I'll look into that..

Another choice is the Hankook 4S tire. I have used these on a couple of cars with good success including a trip to Vegas last July.

I've been running the Nokian WRG2's on my '05 XC70 since Oct. '09 and around 20K miles of all-season driving. They are a good choice for those who don't want to swap out tires every spring and fall. They ride well on dry and wet pavement and provide comfort similar to the OEM Pirellis, while being MUCH better in the snow. I've blasted through foot deep unplowed driveways with no problem, driven the local roads and highways before the plows arrive, and I've never felt I was going to get stuck. The tire has limits, as does the car, but for "typical" winter driving between home, work, and the other places go on paved roads, it's a good choice in my opinion. If you routinely go off-road on unplowed roads in the backcountry, you might want to bring a winch.

I'm estimating 40K miles tire life and I'll buy it again.

I've been running the Nokian Hakka R for my winter tires with very good results. Excellent in the snow and ice, good on dry roads but, there is a fair bit of "tire hum" on dry roads.
