    Default Flip key question

    Hi Guys

We have recently bought an 03 xc70 which we are really pleased with. One small problem with the ignition keys, the spring has broken (both sets) and the key will not flip out any more when you press the button. Is there any other way to get this fixed without spending mega bucks at the dealership?

No idea sorry, I think stick to a normal key. Less complicated, and less expensive when it breaks.

When you pop open the battery compartment, a small Torx screw is exposed. I didn't proceed further, but I'm quite sure that unscrewing this will allow access to the key and probably to the spring. Next step is to find a replacement spring at a hardware store.

I find the flip key very big and heavy - like having a Zippo in your pocket. I think you're better off with the seperate pieces.

I agree. My Honda fob with separate key is easier to carry.

Also, the flip key keeps getting an erection in my pocket.

The flip key is seperate from the remote. You can order a new key from the dealer, and have it programmed to the car. Might be a bit $$

The flip key is a bit too big and when using it to turn the ignition switch really hard to turn with just the fingers at times. The key and remote can be ordered together at the dealer and programmed depending on each dealer's rate.
