    Default '04 XC High revs

Hello all! Just traded in my '01 for an '04 with 25k miles on it. It has one unexpected difference than the '01. During a cold start, the engine idles at 1100rpm for about 15 seconds before settling down at 700 rpm. It only does it after it's been parked overnight or all day. Is this normal?

Another question, looking at the owners manual there's reference to model T5 and R in the traction control. What's the difference between the two. I'm certain I do not have the R model.

The high revs at startup are normal, if really cold it can be as high as 1500RPM.
If I am not mistaken, it gives the emission system a "jumpstart".

Thanks. How can I tell if I have DSTC or STC?

Almost all US spec. 2004 XC70's do NOT have DTSC (usually only special ordered cars). There is a switch on the dash if you have it.

You also do not have either the T5 (V70 T5, 218 hp) or R engine (V70R, 300 hp). The XC70 turbocharged 5 cyl. engine has 208 hp.
