2008 XC70 front suspension

I picked up this car with 135K miles and Im sure we'll have to change out struts at a minimum. What struts are you all using and what other parts should be done at the same time to do it right?
She will see some off-road duty if that matters in relationship to brand/type.

What are the driving symptoms? Steering, alignment? Tire wear pattern?

We have a little knock on the drivers front on the hard edges in the road and it feels a little soft overall.

A knocking sound when going over a bump is usually a sign that the upper spring plate is shot. This is a $50 item, but requires going to a shop
that can compress the spring while the spring-strut is off the car. Too dangerous to attempt without the right equipment. Wheel and brake shops do this
spring plate all the time (for about $150 labor). Buy the genuine Volvo part online and take it to the shop. Consider getting both fronts done.
