    Default Exhaust cam seal removal

I'm trying to replace the cam seals on my 2001 and can't get the cap over the main bolt off. I bought the right torx tool, but it's on so tight I broke the wrench I was trying to turn it with. Any old pros know a trick on this one. So far two days of PB Blaster haven't worked. I have a cam locking tool so the cams can't move, but in every video I've seen this is an easy thing to get off. It's not on this car. Help please.

No specific expert advice except on the PB blaster. Acetone and transmission fluid is a much better solution than PB blaster and more effective. Google it....

PB'laster is not very good. 50/50 ATF and acetone is the best. Liquid Wrench is a close second.

But there is an o-ring on this bolt, so I doubt you'll make much difference no matter what you use.

What brand tool did you manage to break? Good, like Snap-on? Or cheap? It took about 75 ft lbs for me to do it...hard but not crazy hard. I've got a decent 1/2" flex head, long handle, ratchet for such tasks...

How did you manage to get a flex head on the end of the cam? Did you remove the wiring harness?

We are talking about the exhaust cam phaser, right? There's a couple inches of space between it and the strut tower. Enough room for a flex head and socket. Maybe I don't remember it correctly, but I remember it being hard, not crazy. Maybe a torx bit in a box end wrench, then?

I got it with the torx bit in a box end wrench. Bent the wrench a little, but it came loose and the cam is off so now i can replace the cam seal that got blown out. Thanks for your help.
