    Default Tires: 215/65 R15

    Hello.
It is that time again when I need to look at All Season Tires for our 2002 Volvo XC70.

I am a big fan of the Michelin Defender Tires, but I just thought I would ask here if anyone has any input.
We want the longest lasting and if possible most quiet/comfortable tire.

    Thanks.
    Stephen

For value - I recommend the General Altimax RT-43. Smooth, long lasting, good tires. No tire lasts a truly long time on this car. I get 30 - 40,000 out of tires on the XC...and 60,000 on the V70.

The size for an XC is 215/65R16, however. 215/65R15 is for 80s muscle cars...

Do not buy a tire with a speed range less than H. You need the stronger construction of an H rated tire.

I just put a set of Altimax's on my 2004, based on the recommendations of this board. Huge improvement from the worn out Chicom bricks that were on the car when I bought it. Very smooth. Time will tell on the mileage. Reasonably priced - I was out the door of my local mom and pop tire store for about $480 including mounting, balancing, disposal, sales tax and everything.

Just got the car back with new Toyo Versda Noir tires!
The quietest the car has ever sounded!
    Will keep everyone posted.
