Sounds like you already did, but I would replace all the plugs but only the one coil. How did you know it was cyl 3? from the OBD scan?

Now I remember that on my car, I figured out it was a coil based mostly on reading this forum, and then inspecting the plugs...

    Hope you solved it.

Is that a valid test? This isn't a Lycoming mag check...

FCP thinks so. Its on one of their videos. Just like the old way of testing spark plug wires.

Not to worry these coils can be fine one day, and the next day misfire then go back to running fine the following day, just expect it to fail completely at a later date, happened more than once to me, did a pick and pull and have spare coils just waiting to go, already used two so far

FWIW, I carry a spare coil pack around with me. When my #3 pack went out, I happened to be backing out of the driveway. The car was idling so rough I didn't want to drive it. Not sure what I would have done if I'd been on the road.

Good idea on the spare pak. Don't know if I would use one from the salvage yard though. They are not that expensive.

Just look for the car with collision damage, it had to have been running for it to happen! yes the Chinese coils are cheap, but the Volvo coils are not and the salvage yards are about $5 for a genuine Volvo coil, and now I also carry a spare in both XC's

$5!!! Wow!! cheapest I could find for a used Bosch is $35. Erie Vovo sells them for even more. Might as well buy a new one for $10 more. Its a critical part of the system and worth putting something that will last. Also, FCP or IPD has lifetime warranty for everything they sell. So, you can't lose.

Btw, I did test all the plugs with an ohm meter. No 3 was open (no continuity). That explains the misfire. Lesson learned here is check the simple stuff first. Spark plugs will go bad sooner than a coil pak.
