Default Tcm reset after full transmission flush

I'm about to completely flush my transmission fluid. After checking the fluid level, what reset should be performed?

    1. Reset the "Transmission Fluid Counter". I'm sure this has to be done

    2. Reset "Adaptation". I'm not to sure about this one. It says, Note! This applies
only if the transmission or one of the components in the transmission have been replaced.

    Resetting adaptation
Resetting the adaptation and the counter for "Transmission oil, replace"
    Hint: The
    transmission has
    torque-regulated,
    adaptive pressure
    regulation. The
    pressure regulator
    enables the
    transmission to
    regulate pressure
    during each shift to
    prevent hard shifting.
    Each shift is assessed
    by the transmission
    control module (TCM)
    and is stored in the
    internal memory. This
    makes it possible to
    compensate for
    transmission and
    clutch wear. It is
    important that the
    adaptation in the
    memory is reset so
    that the transmission
    works normally after
    the repair. Because
    the fluid was changed
    during the repair, the
    counter for
    transmission fluid
    change must also be
    reset. If the counter is
    not reset during
    draining/replacement,
    a diagnostic trouble
    code may be
    generated under the
    wrong conditions.
    Note! This applies
    only if the

    transmission or one of
    the components in the
    transmission have
    been replaced.
     Ignition on.
    Click on the VCT2000
    symbol to reset the
    adaptation and counter.

    3. Activate "Adaptations"

    adaption
    Control module
    adaptation
    Hint: The following
    method gives a
    basic adaption of
    the transmission. In
    case of sportier
    driving, it is not
    certain that the
    basic adaptation is
    sufficient to give
    improved shifting
    quality. The method
    can be adapted to
    cover the engine
    speeds where
    problems with
    shifting quality
    occur, but make
    sure that
    orange/yellow
    warning light is
    activated just as in
    the basic adaption.
    Note! Always begin
    with a basic
    adaptation.
     Start the engine.
     Gear selector in
    position P.
     Activate
    "Adaptation
    mode".
    Note! Do not
    switch off the
    engine!
     Disconnect the
    diagnostics tool
    and test-drive
    the vehicle

    according to the
    description
    below.
    Start the test drive
    after the text message
    is displayed in the
    combined instrument
    panel.
    The general
    orange/yellow warning
    lamp is used during
    adaptation as an
    indicator that the
    target value has been
    reached. The warning
    light goes out again
    after 2-4 seconds,
    depending on what
    type of adaption is
    performed.

    adaptation
    1. Accelerate gently
    at an engine
    speed of
    approximately
    1400 rpm up to
    4th gear. Hold
    the accelerator
    pedal (AP) in a
    fixed position
    throughout the
    acceleration.
    Stop the car and
    repeat the
    procedure until
    the general

    lights after each
    shift. A number
    of accelerations
    may be required
    to obtain the
    correct result.

    2. Accelerate again
    but this time up
    to 6th gear,
    increase the
    engine speed to
    approx. 1800
    rpm. Hold the
    accelerator pedal
    (AP) in a fixed
    position
    throughout the
    acceleration.
    Repeat the
    procedure until
    the general
    orange/yellow
    warning lamp
    lights after each
    shift. A number
    of accelerations
    may be required
    to obtain the
    correct result.
    3. Accelerate again
    up to 6th gear,
    but now increase
    the engine speed
    to approx. 2500
    rpm. Hold the
    accelerator pedal
    (AP) in a fixed
    position
    throughout the
    acceleration.
    Repeat the
    procedure until
    the general
    orange/yellow
    warning lamp
    lights after each
    shift. A number
    of accelerations
    may be required
    to obtain the
    correct result.
    Accelerate again
    up to 6th gear,
    but now increase
    the engine speed
    to approx. 2500
    rpm.

I followed the Vida instruction how to flush the transmission. Drained the pan, add 4 liters, pumped through the upper rad connector, add 2 liters. I did this until I pumped a total of 16 Liters. The fluid is bright red. I followed the Vida instruction how to check the fluid level. I let it idle until the oil temp reaches 50 degrees celcius. I opened the integrated level plug. Nothing came out. I added another liter, nothing was coming out. I then try to reset the fluid counter and it failed to reset. Any ideas?

Btw, after draining the pan, I cut the upper cooler line and installed a Magnefine filter. I used the original connector to the rad, attached a 3/8 OD brass pipe and 3/8 ID vinyl hose.

    I started w 20 liters. I have 2 liters and 900 ml left. It means I added 17 liters + 100 ml.

I measured all pumped out fluid to include whats drained out of the drain plug. I measured the fuid when it cooled off. Total of 18 liters + 150 ml. I was way off.

I have no idea how I messed up by over a liter (1050 ml). It must have been the volume of fluid being replaced with cold fluid.

Gonna add just over a liter in the am. Im hoping that this is the reason why I cant reset the fluid counter since its 1 liter short.

    Wish me luck.

Reset with VIDA? The Transmission control module has no way of knowing the fluid is low - there is no fluid level sensor in the transmission - (sure if the transmission was extremely low and you tried to drive it gear slipping/incorrect gear ratio codes could be stored)

I added 1.5 liter and let it idle until oil temp reaches 50 degrees. Opened the Integrated level plug. It drained .5 liter. At least I now know the fluid level is correct.

I tried to reset the Fluid Counter. It was "Unsuccessful". Ohhhhh well. I drove around for 50 miles and plug in the Vida/Dice. No fault codes. Tried to reset the fluid counter. No luck. I also checked the oil temp, it was 96 degrees celcius. Isnt that a little too hot?

Do you think I need to take it to Volvo for a TCM update and or have them reset the fluid counter?

Btw. The shift is much smoother than before. I dont feel that jolt now when I engage the drive or reverse.

The pumped out fluid is black but it doesnt smell burnt.

Fluid Counter reset successfuly performed!!!! Ignition has to be off, key must be in Pos II.

Note: Vida suggest for the Ignition to be "ON". This did not work. You have to turn the ignition off and turn the key to Pos II.

    hi,

I am trying to do the same Reset of Transmission Oil counter but I cannot find it in DICE2014d at all. How did you do it in your example?
Under Repair - Fault Diagnostics I see only General Diagnostics and Tests; Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Associated PRocedures; Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures, then greyed out Symptom Verification; Wiring Diagrams.
I cannot find the setting from your screenshot. Could you please give me some details on it?
    Thanks in advance.
