    Default Hotter than a Huck-a-buck ...

Well it is consistently hot here currently in the 95-108F lately.

Sons car temp for cooling at freeway speeds is now right below the red line - It is normal temp on city streets.

Does this sound like a thermostat problem ? Coolant is spot on and sealed ....... Worried about a head gasket letting go if this keeps up !!

Any idea's or similar history with any of you by chance ?

Thanks JRL- That is what I needed confirmation on.

Quick question for the Thermostat- What temp are you going with ? 192 or a 180F for choices at NAPA around the corner ?

If it runs cool in the city, then the thermostat is OK. Low heat production in the city.

Blocked airflow, blocked radiator, or failing water pump would be my guess.

I wouldn't replace the thermostat. But, if you do...don't go with a 180F thermostat, or you'll confuse the ECM. Good luck getting a thermostat in that housing. I would simply replace the whole housing, with the Volvo thermostat, to preclude further leaks, unless you can find a new gasket.

Thanks Astro - Yhea I can't figure out why it heats up at freeway speeds - but stays normal temp on city streets.

ill look into replacing both the thermostat and pump -- and the timing belt.

    Thanks
