I have been researching this, and there doesn't seem to be an elegant solution where you can connect the iphone 7 via bluetooth or USB. I called up Grom Audio as well, and they said that their devices do not work with the 2008-2011 xc70s. There seems to be an aftermarket part that would convert the aux port into a bluetooth audio streaming (allows you to link up your phone via bluetooth to just transmit sound), but it doesn't allow you to use the volvo radio or steering wheel controls to skip tracks. This is the link if you're interested.

Volvo offers a USB solution, but it's expensive.

I'm not sure whether this works with the new iphones. I know that Apple changed their filing system a little while ago, and I've been told by my dealer that it might not be compatible with the new system. But if someone knows for sure, I'd love to get their input!

I put an Amazon Echo Dot in my 2008 XC70 which has neither Bluetooth nor USB. Best 50 bucks I ever spent on this car.
