    Default rear door ajar light

    Hej!
The "rear door ajar light" is constantly on, but the rear door is closed & latched properly. I can't seem to find any obvious switch, so what's up? I did a forum search, but can up empty.

    Thanks!

The switch is built into the tailgate latch.
It's not unusual for the switch to fail after
a decade or so. You may also have some
damaged wiring in the harness that runs
    through the left hinge.

Are all of the other electrical items in
the tailgate working as they should?

Thanks! I'll have to check on the other electrical items. Is the switch replaceable, or do you have to replace the whole latch? The door has been slamming hard due to failing gas pistons. It happens that the light came on two days after I ordered replacement gas pistons.

Like the door latches, it's all an integrated unit.
The major difference in the tailgate are all of the
linkages. Be sure to take a lot of pictures and get
a good handle on which linkages go where before
you start taking them all apart.

Good news is the pistons are pretty painless!
