    Default Diesel

Does anyone know if Volvo plans on releasing a diesel engine in future XC70's into this country

My conversations with VCNA indicate that is a negative.

They believe the new 2.0 litre engines with/without turbo and supercharging raise the mileage to the same levels achieved by diesel.
    Adding electrification will likely exceed.

Problem in the US is that Volvo does not have the sales to support crash testing and EPA-certifcation.

Apart from the fact that this is the xc60 section of the forum, you might be interested to learn that in 5 cylinder form, the xc60 isn't that economical.

And noisy. You really are not missing out on much.

This (ie the less than impressive fuel economy for a diesel and the noise) may change when Volvo roll out the rest of the Drive-E range of diesels. The new D4 has already been released and has been relatively well received in Europe and here in Australia. The new D5 (a 2lt 4-cylinder turbo engine) is due to be released with the new XC90 later this year with the remaining Drive-E diesels (a D3 and a 3-cylinder 1.5l D2) coming out in 2015. However for the reasons Andres (acools) says, none of this means any of the new diesels will make their way to the NA market.
