Finally got some time to continue.

Last picture was heading south through the San Jose area south of San Francisco to head to Monterey for a few nights.

    The hotel in Monterey.

I wanted to stay another night or two. It would have been a Friday and Saturday. The price of the hotel would have gone from 40$ a night to 140$ a night. A very nice room for 40$. Not so much for 140$. I guess the weekenders are willing to pay because I would have gotten the last room for the weekend when during the week they were nearly empty.

    Looks like a standard Marigold.

    DSCF1580 by ssicarman, on Flickr

However it is a little bit taller than any that I have ever seen.

Shots from a few days in the Monterey area.

First order of business is Phil's Fish Market for lunch. Best Chipino--still.

Headed out to Gilroy to shop the outlet mall and get a few garlic products (garlic tomatillo salsa) for my wife. The Garlic shop by the mall sent me to their store south of town.

They had this by the store. Oddest cow I have seen.

    DSCF1602 by ssicarman, on Flickr

Wondered around Monterey before heading south on the coast. Not lost honest. I knew that I was still in Monterey.

Out of Monterey and heading south on the number one.

Last year the tunnel was under construction, still is. You can see where the hill side came down just before the corner.

This guy came up the beach slowly and unsure. He would come up the beach a short distance, stop, check things out and then move up some more.

This is the Pier that the supplies and guests came in on. The waves came in on cycles and one always made a loud booming noise as it crashed.

Next morning headed a bit south and then east to Las Vegas. Basically same route as last year but with a different departure so Las Vegas could be made in the one day.

This was the beginning of the largest pump jack farm that I have ever seen. Looking north and south you couldn't see the end of it and it had to be a mile deep.

Nearly into Lost Wages but ran out of light. Once there had to do some fancy detouring to get to the hotel (The Quad, which used to be the Imperial) because they were running a marathon race down the strip. Fowled up traffic for the entire night.

Made it into the hotel in one piece after sitting in way to much traffic. Found out in the morning that I have a view of Caesar's Palace. Also a balcony----that you may not want to go out on for fear of disturbing the pigeons.

    Final batch.

Left Las Vegas a few days early due to what turned out to be some good predictions of bad winter weather coming in on the interstate north.

Starting to get snow on the mountains in the Salt Lake City area.

Left in the rain with about 6 degrees C. From there the weather was all over the place with a temperature trend to cold. No shots of the real ugly weather areas, got a little busy driving.

    DSCF1785 by ssicarman, on Flickr

The area was interesting more so in the rearview mirror as the snow was all on the north facing slopes.

    Great Pictures!

Wonderful to see that the UK 'Sold' or possibly gave the plans for the 'BIG Wheel' to 'Lost Wages' (A good name for a Gambling City!)
Or did they sell the one in London to help cover the balance of payments?

That Seafood Bowl looked almost good to eat and I was nearly going for a Spoon to dig in!

    Thanks for sharing.
