    Default Testament to Strength

Well, I guess it had to happen, but this was way too soon. Late yesterday afternoon, whilst travelling to Perth, I had an encounter with a rather large (5ft+) kangaroo at basically highway speed. The front right corner is kinda destroyed, and there's some radiator damage, but my mighty XC kept me going to get in range of help. Heavy impact that would've stranded many vehicles alongside the highway, but even the tilt-tray guy who came to get her remarked on how strong she is. Thanks to my XC for keeping us safe. Love my XC & look forward to seeing her in all her glory again soon. I didn't have the heart to take a photo .
    Cheers

Yes OR - about 20km north of Nth Bannister...where there are often wallabys, but NEVER big roos...until yesterday, that is.

Thanks, Astro. Yes, all OK...no people injuries (could easily have been in a lesser vehicle)

I know that area relatively well - have driven it many times.

Quite ironic as the bigger roos are further south. Biggest Ive seen in the area was in Margaret River. Massive 6'+ boomer with blood scratches over his chest.

btw, I plan to go down your way in a few weeks for a weekend.

Out of interest, what time of day was it?

It was around 5:15...I'd expect it at dusk perhaps, but it was still quite light. Just unlucky, I guess. Happy to catch up if you're coming down...hopefully have my XC back by then.

    Default Front end collision

This is a ford explorer after hitting a bear at around 65mph. While the insurer did pay for the repair the final cost was so exorbitant the car should have been totaled. Initially it just looks like the front bumper, headlights, radiator and ac system will need to be fixed but upon further investigation it turned out the frame of the SUV was bent from the impact. Obviously the XC70 doesn't have a full frame the way a Ford SUV does, but definitely make sure your alignment, especially the caster angles, haven't been adversely affected.

Bad break. Best philosophy when you run into bad luck like this, which we all are likely too sooner or later, is to be thankful it wasn't worse luck!
