Default Driveline binds and then releases with a bang

If this has been discussed before, please direct me to the thread. Occasionally, when pulling into a parking place, with front wheels turned at, or near full lock, it seems that the driveline binds and then releases with a shudder and a bang. Another description, when pulling into the parking spot, the car slows, without hitting the brakes, then you feel a large shudder, hear a loud bang, the car then begins to roll normally again. Yesterday, when this happened I felt the car slow (bind), but not release, just as I stopped at the parking spot. I put the trans in Park and when I tuned off the ignition, I heard a LOUD bang and felt a great shudder. It seems that the noise and shudder are coming from the front of the car. Otherwise the car seems to drive properly with no transmission or driveline issues. 2006 V70xc, 90k, transmission (and radiator) replaced 50k ago under warranty because of antifreeze leak into trans fluid. Thanks for any/all information about this. I am fairly good with mechanical repairs and I would like fix this myself if possible.

Seriously messed up halfshaft (i.e. driveshaft to the wheels vs a propshaft that goes between diffs)? But I would have thought that in such a case other more consistent noises would also be present.

    Good luck,

At or near full lock would maximize the stress on both the outer CV joint of a front axle...

It would also maximize the difference in path between front and rear wheels...so if a center differential (Haldex) was locked up/stuck, then it would be most noticeable in this circumstance.

Time to put it on a lift...you've got one or the other...
