OK there is a problem here: all white engine 2000 and later have solid tappets.
All engines in volvos since then have solid tappets except 3.2 inline 6's with cam profile shifting.

    I appreciate the clarification.

He solved the ticking though...it was the coil arcing (as I mentioned) and now he's created another problem...

    Any ideas on that one?

Ok so is running great now after I plugged in a sensor that had blown out of the tube coming from intercooler to throttle body there is supposed to be a clip on each side but one is broke off so it doesn't fit real tight but hasn't thrown any more codes so hope that was it. Does anyone know what that sensor is just before the TB. And where I can get another one cause I very it will just keep popping out with only one clip cause all of the pressure.

And you are awesome ASTRO14 causemotor sounds awesome after I changed the coil pack and runs better to since I changed the spark plugs while I was at it. I am still gonna try to repair pcv system when I get some money built up but for now is running great. Thank you so much everyone for your help I love this forum.

Glad it worked out...and thanks to your question and Cattlecar's expertise, I learned a bit too!

Thats the MAP sensor. Measures air pressure I believe. As I recall the 2 side clips are molded to the pipe? instead of on the sensor. Lots of places sells MAP sensor including most online stores specializing in Volvo parts.

Well guys car still runs good but.... Of course it threw a code p1711. And on my code reader it says fuel adaption bank 1 so I've searched and most say its MAF or some kind of vacuum leak or induction leak... Guess I have some troubleshooting to do. But what is weird is that both times my MAF went out it never threw code...
