Default How to Clean Speaker Grille/Cover

Inevitably, someone splashes dirt/salt onto the lower speaker covers as they enter the doors.

This is a real pain, because the dirt gets inside the tiny holes in the speaker cover, and is impossible to get out.

Does anyone have a good tip for cleaning them?

You might try using a paintbrush or even an old toothbrush to remove some of the accumulated material. Holding the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner nearby will help prevent any dirt that is loosened from falling behind the grille (if the grille perforations are large). This should help.

I would use water or liquid cleaner sparingly - perhaps only applying a few drops to the brush, if at all. The risk is sending mud/dirt behind the grille where it will rattle around (buzz) when listening to the stereo ...

Alternatively if you can get one, the gadget that you use for cleaning around the keys on a computer keyboard, and has a small brush just in front of a miniature vacuum cleaner has worked for me, although it might not have the suction of a mains powered vacuum cleaner.

Thx for the ideas. Was hoping someone would say the grille pops out easily for cleaning, but I guess not.

It's a tedious process any way you look at it.

Use a damp kitchen sponge, no soap. Press gently and move around until clean.
