Thumbs up No power at start then sometims wont shift.

When I start the car there is little for power until the car warms up quiet a bit. Sometimes loses power after warmed up. Also, noticed that it revs a lot more than normal. I have to let on and off the gas to try to get the tranny to shift. What could be wrong? I was told that if I got tranny oil replaced and tranny filter would fix it. Or should I be looking for a hefty repair bill. Any help would be great!

    Post No Power

    Milage 250,000, and it is a 1999.
A local back yard mechinic said that I must have put some tranny fluid in that had debris in it. He offered me a good rate per hour. That is why I posted on here.

Well don't have a "backyard mechanic" look at one of these cars as 99% have no idea about them
My guess is your ETM (throttle body) went bad but you need to have a QUALIFIED Volvo mechanic look at it
I think you need to research these cars

These are really nice cars, but they have got some quirks. Add to that,
the '99 was the first year of Volvo's Electronic Throttle Module and it
had some design issues that have some wierd failure modes.
You can find out more about the funky ETM issues here:
    http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...forum.php?f=12

That's just one of the things that makes these cars a little different man most.
Unless you know someone that has spent some time around these cars,
    Jim's right.

The average shadetree mechanic could fire a lot of shots before hitting the right target.
You could get a parts store to read the Check Engine Light codes for you and post
them here, but your best bet may be to find a reputable independent Volvo shop
that knows their way around 90's vintage Volvos and spend a little money.
For most of us, it's money well spent - TOTALLY worth it!
