    Default Magnefine install idea...

    Hey guys,
Awesome forum. Just recently purchased my first X/C (third Volvo) and have been pouring through this forum to garner insight on how to make my new baby last forever! I was certainly previously aware of the issues with my Aisin tranny and am planning on doing everything possible to make sure it lasts as long as possible. No current issues and I want to keep it that way. My first step is to do the Gibbons flush process in conjunction with Transtune procedure, in addition to the IPD B4 update. Right afterwards I'm going to install the Magnefine filter. There has been some concern about the sharp bend in hose exiting the filter and returning to the trans. I've got an idea that I'm going to try and see if it alleviates that stress of that sharp bend. I plan on using a short section of steel or Cupro Nickel (http://catalog.fmsiinc.com/viewitems...l-brake-lines?) (brake/fuel line) and then creating a hose connection bubble on each end with my MasterCool hydraulic flaring kit. With this I should be able remove the kinking concern though admittedly it'll add another hose clamp connection. Giving the low pressure that is present in the line I have no worries about 'blowing a connection'. Let me know what you think of this concept. I’ll take photos of the end result when all is said-and-done. Again thanks for everything guys.

Sounds like a lot of work for an average filter...if you're going to do all that, then install a remote filter mount with a nice K&N...like the HP 2001...it will last longer and have less pressure drop. Further, it spins off...and you can plumb in your aux cooler at the same time.

I installed one in my '01 V70 T5, no problems with kinking or sharp bends.

Just need to cut about 1-2" of extra hose for the perfect fit.
