As long as it meets ACEA...preferably A3/B3...throw some non-spec 10W40 in there, you're asking for major trouble. Viscosity is not nearly as important as the specification (additives) that the oil meets.

    Thanks!
so what could be the best choice considering the climate and the mileage on the car. My V is in very good nick except the fact 'salvage' the engine runs very smooth with decent acceleration response with the clean interior.

    Suggestions are welcomed.

I dont know where my earlier response went for long outstanding approval from moderators, but I came across with this finding to counter your statement about 10W40:

Your link doesn't work, and if you don't want to read through my thread, then I don't really feel like taking the time to educate you about oil. Should you wish to educate yourself about oil, I recommend that you start here: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/motor-oil-101/

When you've finished the articles, and the quiz, then we can talk.

    Thanks,

after study, I m good to go with 10W30 keeping the climate temp as key factor.

Your high temps are too high for a 30 weight oil to protect your engine. You need a 40 weight. Mobil1 0W40 will work perfectly for the 7500 mile interval, if you can't get that or want to use a syn blend use a 10W40 and change every 5K.

My bad, today I searched with all main distributors (Mobil & castrol) here in Oman and they said that 10W30 is hard to find, though mobil have 0w40 available but pricy. Other thing that syn blend 10W40 is easy to find of Shell, Fucsh or liquimoli. Still confused.

10W40 is likely easy to find because many people use it, 10W30 would be too light an oil for the high average temperatures in your region. The 0W40 will give you the most protection but like you said, it's pricey. Your next best option is the syn blend 10W40.

I am really happy with Pennzoil 5W30 (conventional). I change oil/filter every 4-months for urban life - an overkill maybe. Now after reading Astro's link, Bob has * on it under non-synthetic, i.e. recommended. Fuel is 93 Premium on my two cars.

    Thank you Astro for sharing.
