    Default PNP switch location?

    Hi to all,

my 97XC has been displaying intermitently the limp home autobox syndrome. From reading through a lot of the threads I'm starting to suspect the PNP switch. My local shop read the codes which said something about 'wrong selection of 3rd gear'. As I say it's intermitent and seems to be brought on by climbing a long hill. Where is this PNP switch and how easy is it to change? My local Volvo dealer tried to scare me in the direction of a replacement box at around £3000!

PS mileage is just over 200 thousand (!)

    On the transmission.
It's a two hour flat rate job and IRRC the part is also about $125 (US)

    Thanks for that JRL,

does the transmission need to be dropped to change the switch or can it be done in situ? ( I'm assuming its directly below the gear change leaver?)

    No drop.
If you dropped it that's 10 hours
