Default 2000 V70XC Strange Clunking Noise

I have a 2000 V70Xc with 137000 miles. Recently purchased. Just had transmission fluid changes @ dealer. Now heres the problem. Just made a 300 mile trip - no problems. This morning at 22-23 mph a squeal starts - then reducing speed below 20 mph, CLUNK - for a moment, then no noise. Car accelerates fine before & after. Clunk seems to be external from below the car. Any suggestions? We're on vacation in the Adirondaks of New York.
    Thanks

Check the upper engine mount. If the rubber is cracked, worn, or torn then the simple act of slowing down will cause the engine to "buck" and the resulting clunk sounds horrible.

    Matty,

does that noise feel and sound like it comes from under the floor between the front and rear seats? can you actually "feel" the thunk?

Local mechanic in Adirondaks ruled out the e-brake & would not look further. He thought it was a rear gear issue. After a 140 mile flatbed tow to a dealer, narrowed down to angle gear or sleeve gear. Will know0 for sure tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

It was the sleeve. Thanks for the input.

Default Sorry to add insult to injury...

Oddly enough, I was out that way the following week and also have transmission issues now. Took a trip to Quebec and came back with bad CV joints and now a supposed bad transmission. My entire drive through the Adirondacks (actually, from Vermont/Canadian border to Indiana) was full of clank clank clank.
