Has anyone installed the 01-07 dog gates in a 2008+?

Does anyone know if the cargo barrier and dog gates that are available for the earlier model years fits in the 2008+ XC70's? Or if there is an equivalent for the 2008+ model years?

Volvo confirms there is not an equivalent for 2008+ but I have heard rumors that the 01-07 gates fit. Looking for someone who has done it to confirm.

I don't actually know if they will fit, but I'd suggest that you take yours with you to a dealer for a test fit. The '08+ load floor is very similar to the old one in shape, but not an exact match. However, the height of the rear compartment in the new one is noticeably less. The car is taller overall, but the floor is much higher as well. The specs for interior volume of cargo area show about 10% less volume in the new one, and that is all because of the reduction in interior height, since the floor is the same square footage (new just slightly larger, based on moving the carpet liner from our old to new) .

UPDATE... The gates will not fit in the 2008+, atleast not without some serious modification to the gate and the car. The first issue is the height of the cargo area, much shorter. Second issue is that top of the tailgate opening is slanted back towards the front of the car so the gate would sit farther back in the cargo area and would not square up with the sides where the latch hardware sits.

Instead of gates, our 83# dog is in a harness with a tether attached http://www.champk-9.com/champhome.htm to a cargo hold down to keep her from being a projectile in the vehicle, Safer I think.-Dick

Does anyone know if the 01-07 gates will work in the 98-00 body style? Or if there is an equivalent gate? I have a friend with a 2000 XC that may try to use the gates I bought to try in the 08.

Did you ever get any replies? I am interested in any answers too....as I am thinking of trying to fit the older gated into a 2010 XC70. please let me know what you have found out! Thanks!!

The cargo barrier is different.
Is shorter in height and wider than previous ones.

I had one for my 01 which I eventually used on
a friends 05 model as it wouldn't fit my 08 model.
