Default How to reset maintenance message?

My 2004 XC70 maintenance message is on. My owners book says nothing on how to reset it. What is the trick? Many thanks!

I don't think the SRI reset procedure removes DTC codes, I believe it only resets the time or distance stamp for the next maintenance.

    Hey Skag,

Next time just do a quick search in our FAQ - the procedure is in there.

Aren't OBD codes supposed to have four digits?
You may take a look here: http://www.troublecodes.net/OBD2/

I had the same result the first time I tried to reset mine. I believe I wasn't fully switching all the way to position II. I finally got it to work though. Keep trying. Unfortunately it's a needlessly complicated process.

With my Jeep all I have to do to reset the maintenance reminder is push and hold a "Reset" button. No magic combination or incantation required! And it's almost as easy to reprogram the maintenance interval.

Too bad Volvo feels a need to be such [insert pejorative]s about things like this and make them ridiculously convoluted. Probably made it a big selling point the dealers. "The average customer will never be able to reset the maintenance reminder themselves. They will have to come to you for every oil change!"

Assuming you followed the correct procedure according to the MY of your car,
the timing of the steps is critical to make the reset take place.
