Default Any issues switching to synthetic oil after 30k?

Does anyone know if there are or would be any issues switching to synthetic oil after a car has had regular oil for 30k miles?

    Thanks.

There is a good FAQ on the mobil site. I don't think there is an issue. I have switched to Mobil 1 0W30 on my XC90 sport after 15k miles (basically after the 1st included oil change).

    Default Synthetic Oil

In the UK and the rest of Europe all Volvo's come filled with synthetic oil straight from the factory.

Castrol Longtech Profesional for Volvo Cars I think they call it by the way.

    All the best.

Only issue I'm aware of is the cost

But then you shouldn't have to change it as often.

Don't your cars come aready filled with synthetic oil straight from Volvo?

Switching to synthetic from mineral oil just means your car will have the type of oil in it that Volvo intended and designed the engine for.

Can change it less only if there is an increase in filtration. Can only be
sure by having it tested. Contaminates go into syn just as they
do in mineral based. Only way to remove them is better filtration
or removing them by draining the oil.

The XC90 engine is designed to go 1 year or 18,000 miles between oil changes with synthetic oil.

Here is Volvo's oil recomendation chart for oil and change interval....http://www.volvocars.com/uk/tools/Ow...20PBA%20v3.pdf

In the UK not all main dealers use the Volvo recomended oil. (a gripe with me as I think they should tell you if they are a dealer who dosn't and so give you the option to have the one Volvo recomend. My local main dealer uses Mobil 1. Same change interval as the Volvo oil.)

I spoke to Castrol tech dept about the best oil for my XC90 and they said if you wanted to get the best performance and fuel economy from the car to use the oil that Volvo recomend.

Having said that, I'm using Motul Econergy as I like the synthetic base oil they use. It's ester based. I find I get a couple of extra mpg with it. I get 35 to 42 mpg, depending on the type of roads, but that's measured with UK gallons which are a little bit bigger than the US ones.

    All the best.
