    Default Oil Drain Plug Torque

I'm getting ready to do my first DIY oil change on my '04 XC70, and I can't find a torque specification for the oil drain plug. Is there an established number, and if so, what is it? Thanks, DC.

And the Torque for the plastic oil filter housing is also 35Nm.

According to Vadis, the torque for the oil filter housing is 25Nm.
Part number for the gasket of the drain plug is 977751
Filter insert (new O-ring I think) is 1275810

You should change the oil plug gasket too.

Thanks, everyone. I've got a new crush washer, plus a new O ring for the filter housing. So, the drain plug torque is 35 nm / 26 ft lb, and the filter housing is 25 nm?

    Willy,

I was surprized to see your reference to 25 Nm for the filter housing because I had written down 35 Nm after checkling in VADIS. Turns out we are both correct. In the listing of torque setting for various components under the "General" segment under the "Engine" option the torque is listed as 35 Nm but under the specific instructions for doing an oil change it is listed as 25 Nm..... However, your figure is probably the one to use. The plastic housing on mine has the torque specified on it as 25 Nm...
