I have a 2001 V70XC, and I was replacing the VVT solenoid when I noticed the timing belt was all chewed up, as shown in the pictures.
Any idea what caused this?

The VM I used was already set up by 1moretech (see my previous post).
I'm able to get DICE to communicate via the USB port, and I can read and clear error codes. I just can't get the vehicle...
Forgot to mention that I'm running the VM on Parallels on a MacBook Pro. Not sure if that is part of the problem.
The DICE connects to the Mac via a USB 3 dongle.
Yep, car was running.
I e-mailed Andrew Marsh (1MoreTech), and he suggested I ask you guys.
I'll try it again today.
All-
With the help of 1moretech on ebay, I got VIDA up and running on my 2001 V70XC.

For these cars, what parts need programming in order to work?
ETM?
Key transponder reader loop thing?
Anything else?
Did you ever get this figured out?
I think xemodex can remanufacture your old ETM, so you can plug it back in without reprogramming anything.
I have a 2001 V70XC, and I think it's only a matter...
I just removed and cleaned the throttle body on my 2001 V70XC. It used to have a rough idle, now it is smooth.
I noticed it is electrically controlled, however. If I need to replace it in the...
Sounds like the transfer case, also called the angle gear. If so, it will eventually lock up and you won't be able to move.
I would remove it and remove the prop shaft and just convert the car to...
No, I wasn't able to turn the key at all. I think I may have the problem where the tab that locks the steering wheel breaks off and jams the tumbler. People have fixed it by cutting the cover plate...
I'm in the same situation as the original poster.
I parked facing down a hill, and now I can't turn the ignition. I can turn the steering wheel. I can't get out of park.
I released the...
The tailgate for my 2001 V70XC is not latching very well anymore.
Sometimes it latches closed, sometimes it doesn't.
How can I fix this?
I tried placing it everywhere but couldn't get it to work.
Anyone have an Amazon link to the correct tool?
How did you get the transponder out of the key without destroying it?
Where did you tape it?
I have a 2001 V70XC with only one working key. I want to take the transponder out of the key and...
Has anyone been successful at getting this to work?
I tried placing the working key everywhere. The spare would turn the ignition, with lights and bells, but engine wouldn't crank.
I guess I thought with the entire key taped in the column, someone could reach in there and steal the car.
Probably not too likely, since they'd have to want the car, and know there is a key...
I have a 2001 V70XC, and I only have one key.
I'd like to remove the FOB from the key and tape it inside the steering column so I can cut more working keys.
I'm afraid of destroying the FOB...
Still running fine as front wheel drive. Hose clamp keeping collar in place.
Here's a picture of the crank shaft timing marks from when I did the job. You can see faint notches on the crank pulley teeth. They are supposed to go on either side of the mark on the block.
It...
I had this exact symptom- grinding noise that sounded like a wheel bearing going out, stopped when accelerating, etc.
It was the angle gear. It eventually locked up and the car wouldn't move, and...
I used a hose clamp instead of glue because the coupling was stuck and I couldn't remove it. The clamps are there just in case it starts to slide off. (See picture)8163
Thanks for the advice. ...
I've got a 2001 V70XC, and I've heard that the oil cooler frequently fails and leaks oil into the coolant.
Should I replace it as part of preventative maintenance?
Is there a way to test if it...
