Getting parts out to Australia is painful. More so if it is a very heavy items.
I have done the timing belt and tensioner when the car hits 130k km. The recommended Volvo guide is 150k km or 10 years. Since it is nearly 10 years, I just changed it.
Make sure the spark plugs are iridium type.
Glad all is resolved now.
Yep, there are tweeters slot near the top of the door.
How much is a DiCE unit going to cost? Is it worth getting one?

The noise can drive you crazy when you are trying to identify the source. I am trying to hunt the culprit and so happy when it was apprehended. Lol.
Agreed. My one owner car is such and apart from the valve body issue that only starts to show its well known problem (taken care by warranty), it runs great and have most of the nice features that...
Welcome to the club. The '02 XC70 is a great car if you got a good one. I have put 60k km since gotten it 2 years ago.
Congrats and welcome to the Volvo club. Agree with bill that the '01 -'02 is particularly bad but not all are the same. My '02 with one previous careful owner was a good buy with good options on...
I have had my XC for 2 years now and put 60k km on the clock.
It has the valve body replaced (under extended warranty), torque rod, engine mounts, bushes, front brake rotors and brake pedal sensor....
My indie Volvo specialist mentions that no repairs can be done to the existing bevel gear. There is no gasket to replace so to speak. It is designed to be replaced as a whole.
Last check shows mine...
It is alarming to see parts breaking off after replacement. Is this a manufacturing defect?
I would go for the '07 model. You can change the language on the screen through the Volvo dealers or indie specialists.
Check the specs to see if it is the LE version which has sunroof, heated...
It is wise to avoid '01 and most of '02. I got an '02 and still suffered the dreaded valve body issue even though just starting to show it but thankfully the extended warranty taken care most of it....
Keep us updated and hope all will be well soon.
Good to know alternative source for parts and stuff. Thanks.
Use good oil such as fully synthetic and regular oil change will see the engine running well. My car been using fully synthetic since new and even my indie Volvo guy uses Mobil 1 only.
What oil do you use? Synth blend or full synth?
Forget to add the valve body and front disc rotors
Here is my list.
Brake pedal position sensor
Top engine mount
Steering rack ends
Lower control arm bushes
Timing belt & tensioner
Lower torque rod assembly
Platinum spark plugs
Drive belt
Sounds like your valve body is on its way out. It is causing slippages when shifting from P/R to D. I have similar experience with mine and it was fixed with the redesigned valve body that was fitted...
Wonder how is the Bridgestone stacks up at the next service since I will be needing a pair as my rear Pirelli STR is getting a bit worn down.
Yeah, it works a treat. Now my stuff won't slide around. Original Volvo stuff too. Made in Germany according to the package. Pretty strong net.
Here is the one that I got.
