Note pump is new too.
Yes, quiet but on from drivers seat and outside car. When pump runs it sounds different than fuel pump and confirmed with stethoscope.

Agree on the "cannot be compressed" but there are two sensors connected to the DEM that (in my mind anyway) may stop the pump after they close (or open) after reaching operating...

My response in #7 is how you quickly test for a fuel pump failure.
The car needs fuel, spark, compression and timing to start (HINT - search for each of those words).
Is there oil on the timing belt too? If so then I'd check the timing marks to see if you are "off by one".
Spark: pull them all and check with plug touching metal one by one with someone else on...
I would check the brake backing plates for indication of metal-to-metal contact. It's easy to bend them and not notice when doing other work.

You will probably have better luck finding that kind of data on www.swedespeed.com/. Things are mostly about stock on this forum.
DEM codes are not going to show on a generic reader, you need a VICE (an independent volvo mech. may have one).
Where is billr99? Forget that - I found he is in Nova Scotia - no help.
If DEM has no codes, the trans to angle gear coupling sleeve can be partially stripped so it slips under load.
Tip1: I was able to swing the angle gear out of the way without removing the prop...
