The dealer told me the exact same thing. For 2 years he kept telling me... However, I switched from VNS (outdated but does the job everywhere but Canada) to Garmin. The Garmin has many more...
Maybe Volvo could show us how they construct their vehicles with Volvo-specific ? Did you ever see a real crash test from Volvo at more than 50kmph ? Not me, tell me where I can see it. I trust...

I think it's NHTSA. I saw the crash test on a TV show about safety. The crash test engineer made the statement. But it was so obvious when I see it in slow motion, the audi performed better The...
The good news... the driver survived... but sustained major injuries.

On the crash test (side) at 70kmh Volvo didn't get an excellent score. The Audi A4 and the Malibu are green (excellent) Volvo is yello (not bad)
My advice, try a face to face ;)

I' just curius. Since 2003, the XC70 didn't really change.

I think Volvo should try to improve the VNS experience, maybe an upgradable VNS ? The system it self is well built, I wish I could change the chip or the board inside. At 2500$ the VNS is very...
Your assumption is right about highways without any lightning. About the speed, that was for laughting of course. One the ground, I'm not attracted by speed... on the sky that's another story... ...
Swedish things sometimes can be not only annoying but also dangerous. I really think Volvo should recall the 2003-2004 XC70 equipped with Xenon.
By night, I really don't feel safe on the highway...
I've been using the Volvo Navigation System for 2 years, with some frusration. Unfortunately, in Canada the coverage is very limited. Also, the system itself is outdated. But Volvo is not an...
I went through all posts on this very useful forum about child seats, LATCH, ISOFIX. I've been searching all the web to find an answer. Unfortunately, I didn't find a real answer regarding safety. ...
I've went through so many posts about the Ipod, but I'm still confused (ok you're right I'm too lazzy to read everything ;) ) It seems possible to use the ipod as a player in the car.
Now, I'm...
I was planning a roadtrip this summer. So I will set the GPS to get my anywhere near by, after computation this thing is going to send me on the moon. I better pack the car right away if I want to...
There is something all of us should be aware of: http://www.gpsnuts.com/GARMIN/CN/citynav.htm
As stated in the review, the full coverage in Canada is somehow... not. Also, see how the navigator...
Finding a Navigation system that carries full coverage in Canada, that's what I've always been after. The lack of coverage in Canada keeps many people from adding this optional device to their car. ...
I agree, the VNS is not that bad... but outdated. Of course no other Navigation system can be so well integrated with the car. The new garmin units (1000$ CAD) are far more useful, better coverage...
You're right http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/alien.gif
Yes I am http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif starting at 30k (CAD) the V50 is less expensive and what a beautiful design!

Please don't tell me to ask Navteq (formely navtech) I called more than once, they don't know the answer or they don't reply to emails...
I would never suggest you to use an outdoor GPS to drive.
1) only 56MB with the Garmin 60CS, no SD card. About how much space that will be required by the next Metroguide software, it...
The very poor coverage (and the price of course) in Canada, only a few hundred key cities in 5 provinces on 11, keeps many people from considering the VNS as an option.
Also, it is almost...
The low beam is quite impressive, unfortunately this very white light falls too short on the road.
In other hand, on high beam the stream of light quickly fades off. It makes it...
