I my openion if a car is six years old the owner should have taken care of it ALL of the major problems that this model had. If all of the work was done by a dealer there should be a computer record....
If your '01 is still doing the job I would wait for the '09 xc70 ..... The '08 is ''new" this year and I like to see how things are before I jump.

105K miles is a lot and will bring the trade value down. If you use your xc70 for long trips it might be time to look for a replacement. But, if everything elso about the car is good and you...
We've had the 235's for a year and like them a lot. They were great in the winter and running fine in the summer heat. Much better than the OEM

We love our XC and use it on very poor dirt and gravel roads in the NE U.S. ..... BUT...... I would not use it for the trip you are planning. If it were I, I would drive a true 4X4 with a true low...

Chains on ice. It sounds like an exotic club drink but nothing else will do when there is an underlayer of ice. We were happy to have them here in NY State when the upstate roads were covered with ...
If the glue is not water soluble try Goo-Gone ..... soak a little in and it will desolve the glue. Wash any residue off with soap and water. Goo- Gone is in most hardware stores....
I kind of like that dark green ...... now with dark tan leather and a walnut dash ...... Kind of like my old Morgan +4. I only wish I kept that one. (BRG= British Racing Green)

So far the 235/60's have been very good. No real snow yet but a quiet, responsive ride in dry and wet. I never realized how noisy the STR's were until the WR's

I always "shop" for the same car other places and compare it to the dealers offer for my lease car. I also make the best car deal I can and then talk about the loan rate. So far the loan rate from...

Our old 96 Explorer V8 AWD lives upstate and comes out in summer to haul the heavy dirty stuff and in winter to pull visitors out of snow banks ...... Also good for transporting wet dogs after a day...
I had the same thing happen to me, complicated by having the cargo area devider and dog door attached to the swing down metal barrier. I was able to get the back seat down and crawl in far enough to...
Anyone drawing a gun MUST be willing to kill someone. They are deadly ..... and in the hands of someone who has not learned well how to use them they are almost as deadly to the owner as the person...
