Agree with everyone - save for the lack of power

Loving the car but got stuck with the non-turbo (Canada released the Turbo in late 2008 - my son wrote the 2002 off in Fall 2007).

Safety and flying under the radar (sometimes litteraly!) are key....

    Beautiful - love white

Just don't see a lot of white XC's - usually lots of metallic.

An after market sound system will blow away any OEM system so not to worry.

Enjoy every second (and being able to drive sand...
  3. Hang tight - it ain't over! Lots more fun to come on the Oh Oh side :(

Attention DBone: make sure you are negotiating on a T6. Standard 6 is a pig.
  4. Fantastic! - thank you - I appreciate this on-line manual as well

Will get right on it - Saves the $60 the dealer would have charged me :(.

    Thanks again.

Agree 1000% - new has no comparison to the previous Gen. XC70

We'll never forget the day we lost 'ole 2002 - was a beaut. Excellent build quality.

Even when hit by a Range Rover ...

  6. Replacing the front fog light bulb - DIY or not?

Looks well embedded in the bumper - has anyone replaced one yet without removing the bumper from behind?

    Cheers
  7. You must be kidding - Volvos will be made in China ...

Boy - you think the build quality is good now ... [sly]

    2008 XC70 Pet Peeve #27

Wheel locks use a crazy lock bolt pattern.

Boneheads at the dealership left me with the wrong bolt lock key after switching in the Spring.

Had to flat bed it since we could not get the wheel...

Nice - beautiful car - previous 2 generations were best

    Nice - congrats!

Go for nice 18" aftermarket rims and use the OEM's for winter. Easy setup - extends the tire wear lives all around.

  13. Main issues with my 2008 (non-turbo) to date

    - squeaky tailgate (bathe it in WD40 weekly)

  15. Brilliant - thank you - that is surprizing

I don't feel so bad dropping $100 on a good adjustable torque wrench then ...

    Appreciate this - Cheers
  16. What is the correct torque for our wheels?

    In ft. lbs?

Couldn't find it in the manual.
  17. Woud love to ditch the Dog - things we do for the family!

I am pretty obsessive about drying her off when she is in the car (back on a mat with towels even) - will try the dry out with the vents cranked heat >> AC.

Car is new (1 yr) so should not be a...
  18. How to get rid of dog smell in the air flow?

Not the A/C - just the regular air flow. Wet Labrador ...

Stoners' Trim Shine - spray on - no rubbing

Will lube the trim back to showroom quailty.

Cheaper and more effective than Armor All.

Ageed - first year production not good

    And not just Volvo.

My 2004 Audi S4 blew its motor after a month - was the first V8 in the A4 series.

Volvo not immune but for the $$$ it really sux.

They don't build anything like they used...

These are unfortuately 9 years old so no idea of name

They have served my '95 Passat, 2002 XC70 and are now on my 2008 XC70.

They don't make stuff like they used to.
  22. Thanks - will do - just waiting for it to drop dead completely

... the trouble with intermittent problems - you take it in and it works and they can't diagnose it.

    Will let you know!

  23. Thank you!

Much appreciated - good to know there are more XC70'ers in the same boat (car-wise not gremlin-wise).

Will take the posted thread to the Dealer.

    Cheers!
  24. Anyone experiencing electronic gremlins in the centre console?

Past 2 weeks has seen the radio and A/C system completely shut down.

It's intermittent but getting more regular.

Pain in the asx as the whole console is interconnected (save for the seat...
