Perhaps their systems only recognizes cars purchased or leased from them.

The only time I have ever experienced anything like that was in my 1984 SAAB 900 when I had driven about 100 miles with the handbrake partially engaged.

There are so many cars around with them that I often just have to look left, right, or straight ahead and choose the program I like best.  I guess I can live without the sound.
