I'm getting an ECM-P008800 (fuel pressure too high) code on my 2010 XC70 T6. VIDA shows the fuel pump duty cycle is at a constant 80% right from the start and doesn't vary no matter the driving...
The frame does not need to come off - there is a bolt from the inside of the frame that attaches the tensioner from the frame side. Just take that bolt out and the tensioner can be maneuvered out.
I don't know if it is required, but I did remove those screws. They come off very easily and you just have to rotate the pulley to get to each one. I imagine you could pull the pump off without...
Thanks for the note here in the forum. I have to take a look at my settings because I get an email when someone replies to this thread but not when I have a PM. Based on my experience, limited as it...
It was the water pump. It started leaking a few days ago and I just finished replacing it today with a Volvo pump from the dealer. Not a difficult job but there are a few hard to reach bolts that...
Our relatively new-to-us 2010 XC70 T6 with 104k miles has developed a noise coming from the drive belt area and I'm trying to determine its exact cause. It sounds like a bad bearing and I just...
Thank you for your response. I'm 99% sure at least one of the front cam seals is leaking based on my observations of where the oil is appearing and the fact my PCV system was so clogged I had to...
Hi Everyone,
I am having the dealer replace the front cam seals on my 2004 XC70 (180,000 miles) because I didn't want to deal with locking the cams, etc. I already did the PCV system so I won't...
Mystery solved - it was not, in fact, a small copper o-ring but a piece of very hard varnish/old chemical seal material (that looked very much like copper) that had formed in the slight countersink...
Thanks for the replies. Sorry, my hands were too oily to get any pictures and I lost the little copper o-ring down the drain. It was much smaller than the copper rings that are used where the two...
I'm in the middle of a PCV job on a 2004 XC70 with 177,000 miles and the oil return passage was completely blocked so I've had to take the oil sump off to clean it. I have the oil seal kit and will...
Thank you for your ideas on the strange behavior during the trip. A couple things to note -- I removed the splash shield to help trace the leak and left it off so there's no accumulation on it, and...
Thanks for the advice about oil additives -- it's pretty much what I thought but I just wanted to double check.
I did the glove test and sure enough it inflated so I'm going to do the PCV system...
Thanks for the help and advice. I want to relate another experience I had today with this oil leak and ask a few questions. There was a fail amount of oil on the fresh piece of cardboard under the...
Hi All,
I have a 2004 XC70 with 177k miles and a newly developed oil leak on the passenger side of the engine. I've searched through this forum and read every thread with 'oil leak' associated but...
Well, it was the right front wheel bearing. Once it was off you could feel the grinding when turning it by hand. The car drives like new again. Thanks to everyone for their help.
Thanks to everyone for their help on this topic. I haven't had a chance to work on it again until now. Today I put it up on four jack stands so I could walk around and listen while the wheels were...
Thanks for the info, JRL. I've been trying to post a reply since Friday but every time I get a message that a moderator must approve the post. The message disappears before I can read all of it so...
Thank you, JRL, for the info. I saw this post http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10980 about a 2003 with a bad drive shaft along with the link for the TSB...
Thanks for the info JRL. I saw this post about an '03 http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10980 with possibly a bad drive shaft and looked at the TSB that was linked in the second to last...
Thanks for the info - I was afraid it wouldn't be so simple. There is noise and a vibration that I seem to feel more in my right foot when driving anywhere above 20 mph, and occasionally a chirp or...
My '04 has 137k miles and I think I'm having the common problem with the front joint of the prop/drive shaft and I'd like to check it in the easiest possible way. I've read on this forum that it is...
