Thanks hoonk!
I dropped the bumper and can see the windshield and rear windows share the same pump. Replaced it with one I bought on ebay and fixed the problem.

Hello all,
The windshield and rear window washers no longer work on my 05MY XC70 - no fluid out and no pump sound. However, the headlight washer works fine. Anyone know if all 3 washers share the...
My experience has been positive since I deleted the angle gear and prop shaft 2 years ago. It drives fine and gives me 2 extra miles per gallon of gas. Another benefit is that it is soooo much easier...
Thang, I did the same except for the clamp part.

Thanks, vtl!
Not sure how easy it is to get this part since google search doesn't show any hits from north america.

Thanks for the diagram, Xheart! Here is a pic showing the leak.

Thx, Astro! Unfortunately it's not the hose. Kind of curious why this model has no rebuild kit available. Maybe very few of them fail and there is no market for a rebuild kit ...|

My 2005 XC70 is getting a leak from the PS pump. It is a Bosch ZF pump. I looked everywhere and only see rebuilds costing around $300. Is this the only option? Why is there no rebuild kit available...
I spent weeks trying to disconnect the rear cv joint last year when my angle gear had gone bad. Tried everything I know of. Pushing from the back through the two M8 holes ended breaking the bolt...
The wear is normal, but who knows how long it will last. Mine looks just like that when it failed at 182K miles. I made it a FWD to get rid of the horrible noise.

In my 05 XC70, there is no room above the cat for a straight spacer. So I have to buy one with a 90 degree angle.

Yeah, no regret cutting the shaft after seeing the wear on the input shaft of the angle gear. As long as it drives fine as FWD, it's just not worth investing anything on this car at this mileage.

Sleeve on the transmission is shaped like a tube with the splines on the inside. The piece shown in my pic goes into the sleeve from transfer case. What's shown in my pic is the end of a massive...
UPDADE: I made the car into FWD. From what I can see the sleeve is not stripped, but the angle gear side is worn. So, it seems to me the material for the sleeve is harder than earlier cars, causing...
UPDATE: I yanked the leftover propshaft out of the joint. So now only the outer cage of the joint is still stuck in there. I don't think it'll ever get loose but I put the screws back on. The car...
I gave up - bolt broke in the 2nd screw hole in the back and my punch also snapped when pounding through the unthreaded holes. The broken bolts are stamped with 12.9, so they are the strongest bolts...
There are only 2 threaded holes in the back that are not straight-through. One is unusable now that the allen bolt head snapped off leaving the rest of the bolt inside. The bolt seems to be good...
Yeah, the center is loose and the whole shaft can move out 1 inch or so. I have been soaking it with PB Blaster for over a week and pounding it everyday. It just won't budge. The amount of pounding...
Well, I broke the M8x20 screw head off when it hit the back of the joint. So that option is out of the door. Using a mirror I can also see a deep dent created by all the poundings through the...
Thanks, vtl. I think M8x20 is the right size, but I don't have a good counterhold to keep the shaft still. I'll get a good strap wrench to give it another try. I do have the front loose, so I'm now...
What pin? Could you elaborate? I'm in the middle of removing the propshaft and just couldn't get the rear joint off the flange. There are 4 extra holes in the back (2 threaded 2 unthreaded) and I've...
OK. I got the allen head screws out. I also removed the two screws from the center. Now, how do I get it out? Do I pull it out from the rear or just drop it to the floor? Thanks!
DYZ
I now have a reasonable access to the allen head screws after removing a front member from where the catalyst hangs. Not sure how to put a counterhold while removing the screws. VIDA shows a special...
8pack,
I got the 4 corners of the car on stands and found the awd is not working. I think I'm going to do the bevel gear mod you invented:) So I guess I have to remove the prop shaft first (I...
Thanks guys. The noise heard in the video happens when the car is turning. It would stop when going straight. When going straight the same sound may come back just once after a long stretch (hundreds...
