Murphutrailing arm bushing
Hi all
Been a Murphy couple weeks
Well got some new rear shocks the other day. Went to put them on . Got the passenger side done. Pita but figured the other side would be easier. Got it figured out right. Lol! First thing as I took the old shock out, found the spring was broke. Trailing arm bushing not too good either. Ok order two new springs and bushings. No problem. Got the spring and after lots of cussing and a smashed finger got the spring shock assembly back together. The new springs are much stiffer. Ok now the fun began. Got the assembly in and some how it got jammed between the lower mounting pin and the trailing arm. Top was perfect, bolts lined up etc. Spent at least 4 hours trying to get the assembly un stuck. Finally undid the bolt on trailing arm and the top bolts. Got the assembly to move and finally mounted up. Now the problem is the trailing arm will not line up with the bushing holes. Got the bolt in, but because the bushing is soft cannot get the threaded side of the arm to match up with the bolt.
So here are a few questions:
How do you remove the rear smaller bushing bolt from the lower arm? Is heat required. Mine will not budge.
Any tricks on getting the arm and bushing to line up?
How does one go about replacing the bushing? Found direction on building a tool but not sure if it will work on the xc. Made for 240s. Tools on ebay are pricey. Was thinking maybe a ball joint tool might work.
Any ideas, directions, helpful hints or suggestions would be welcome.
